Life. It's a love/hate relationship.

Afraid of life but scared to die
I know it's strange so never mind

the path to enlightenment is just one brush stroke away
It's a lot simpler than a lot of styles. The shading isn't packed on with more layers than the human eye can process. It makes proper use with the few it does uses, and makes them all work together into a singular, very soft, very three-dimensional image. It works brilliantly.
