The Longing by Petite-Emi The Longing by Petite-Emi
They can cry

They can wish

And they can dream.

But they can no longer speak the

words.

It must be so painful...

---------------------

Calabi (top) and Yau (bottom).
The two long lost Spirits who once created the Endless Forest. The Red and Blue Phoenix of creation. The only ones of their kind...

The love story with the dark and bitter end...

Countless of centuries after the world had been created, the humanoid races of the Forest had finally reached the power and technology to challenge even the gods themselves. In their unwavering quest for absolute power, they chose to ambush and attack the two Great Spirits, Calabi and Yau, seeing them as the final step towards total supremacy.
The pair had no interest in taking part in the war and decided to negotiate with the stubborn creatures who only wish to disturb the peace of life itself. Confident in their immortality they met with their opposers... Only to realize that even immortality can easily flicker out, in the blink of an eye...

After the assassination of Yau, Calabi could no longer find a reason to exist in a world without her lover... Enraged with sorrow, she engulfed the entire Forest and all its inhabitants in fire in what has later come to be called "The Great Purging" or "The Great Fire". (name depending on your political and religious standing.) Leaving nothing but cinders and ash.
Having sacrificed the very essence of her life and immortality to end everything, she finally died by the side of her lover.

The two Great Spirits were gone, but the Forest lived on... Slowly regaining its former paradisiacal splendor and the circle of life started all over again...
Only now, without the playful laughter of its loving mothers, no longer dancing across its endless deep skies.

Some say their essences still linger in the forest... Yearning to finally be reunited in eachothers arms...
Some say they are forever gone... To never share their love for eachother ever again.

But recently, rumors are spreading of having seen the red Phoenix somewhere in the forest... A glimpse of hope, or the dawning of destruction? Who knows... Who knows.

This is great! ^^
Though, when I first saw it, all I could think of was the reaction of the one on the bottom...
"Aw dammit! Your tears got in my eye! Arghh so salty! It burns, it burns! The sting! The pain! Arghhhh"
XD
Haha this is a great picture though! ^^

Is the color similarities between Yau and Nadia going to mean something or is it coincidental? Or is that :mib: classified information? :)

*secretive smile* Who knows? It would be weird though, since Nadia's a mermaid and not a phoenix, don't you think?

Maybe something to do with the difference in time with Calabi and Yau's deaths? Or maybe just the random nature of reincarnation?

I thought I had respect for you and thought you were actually good but than I saw a little video that indicated that this picture you made was not the least bit original. It was taken from short production called "Fluximation" and here is the proof [link]

I think you're being a quite unfair tbh. I have not taken anything from anywhere.
I can definitely see the similarities, but I'm just a lil confused how that would make me less good of an artist. Do you imply that all art in my gallery are copies of other stuff?

Hmm...You still keep saying they're yours...yet I still don't think they are. BTW, you DO draw good, just try to be a little more original.

Both of these two characters are mine and mine alone. The one in that animation is not.
They happen to look alike because both seem to share the element of fire.

Originality... If I wanted to draw a fish, would that be unoriginal? If I wanted to draw a dragon, would that be unoriginal? If I wanted to draw a Ford Car, would that be unoriginal because it still looks like a Volvo?
I wanted to draw a spirit of fire. ( or two rather ) And to do that, you borrow the visual properties of fire. You will see that a lot of artists will portray this pretty similarly to each other. Especially if you go after the "Fire in space" effect that makes it look like it's made of liquid.

If you look at this [link] , you will see that the artists did the exact same thing, only with water.

It's a tough world to be original in. :3 But to answer your accusation: I did not copy that character. If there are (which is seems) any similarities, it was not intentional in that way.

here here! just because there is similarity does not mean you copied it! great minds think alike! besides, though it would be hard to prove, i have confidence that you probably never even saw said video or production! i agree with your statement of how to envoke the look of liquid fire and put enough visual cues that hint at "fire" you will inevitably need to involve a particular color and form. not to mention it is such a popular concept, fire catching the imagination of so many, that a frequent re-occuranceof concepts is bound to occur. lol, listen to me carrying on when i have nothing to do with the original conversation which probably died down and was settled a while ago! lol, on another not where i myself am not being very original,i thought about the after effect of their battle and imagined at ground zero a black version of the two, looking evil given the circumstance though not definatively evil, would "rise from the ashes" so to speak and wander around, mostly undetected... what do you think? lol i'm sorry to try and add to your already interesting story which really doesn't need anything else, but i feel so inspired when i see these images!

I agree with you completely- many artists think of things in similar ways, and it does not make them unoriginal at all. This person is a dick.

Cars, fish, and dragons have nothing to do with it. The fact that you claimed those characters as your own and to even go so far as to make a story for them is pretty bad. And drawing a fish isn' "Unoriginal" but if you were to draw... let's say... Nemo, and claim that as your own character, that would be unoriginal and illegal... sooo... yeah...
